Hi, I’m glad to meet you.
I’m a pencil in God’s hand.
You, too?
Mother Teresa said, “We are all pencils in the hand of God.”
I think she meant that everything we do makes a mark.
Every choice affects not only our life but also our legacy.
My deepest desire is to be shaped and sharpened by God’s Word and his presence here, now. I want to become the idea he had in mind when he made me.
And I find that as I write and edit and speak, I get made. So that’s who I am and what I do.

I also teach at the Minneapolis Campus of the University of Phoenix. In the past, I’ve taught at Bethel University, North Central University, Northwestern College, and Minnehaha Academy, all in or around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota.
I’m a former parenting advice columnist for the Brainerd [Minnesota] Daily Dispatch, and I was founding editor of Lake Country Journal, a regional magazine for Central Minnesota.
My B.A. is in Speech and English education from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, and my M.A. is in English education from the University of Minnesota.

My husband, Greg, is principal of the elementary school in town, and we have three kids. Jack is a freshman at Biola University in La Mirada, CA. Britta is a senior at Wheaton College, and Betsy is married and works for Target Corporation.
